In addition to present-day attractions like Six Flags and the Texas Rangers Ballpark, Arlington claims a colorful heritage, beginning with the Cherokee, Delaware and Biloxi tribes through the arrival of the Europeans and the earliest days of the Texas Republic. Arlington's first non-native settlement began as the site of a Texas Ranger post dividing settlers and Indian tribes driven to the area by westward expansion; the native villages succumbed to the Rangers in 1841. |
