Pros: Easy to use Cons: Flimsy and cheaply made
My experience with this camera is very negative.
My School of Design bought 25 FM10 bodies with 35-70mm lenses and one year later over half are now broken.
The body is made of plastic. Also the 35-70 that comes with the kit is not...

Pros: Lightweight, good viewfinder, Cons: feels a bit cheap, wierd light meter
I haven`t used a manual for ages, since I foolishly sold the Pentax K-1000 I used to have. One of my reasons for holding off on a manual camera was/is my eyesight. I do wear glasses, even so the last time I used a manual camera the shots all came out...

Pros: Its a Nikon
Uses Nikon Lenses
Feels good in Hand
Plentiful on the used market Cons: Not All Nikon lens will work.
Can be overpriced on the used market
Ladies and Gentleman, this camera is not an F5. One should not expect to feel or act like one. It's Nikon's low cost "My First SLR" type of camera. It fits its role very well. I bought his camera on an impulse. I'm glad I did. I got it off of ...

Great to learn on
by candienjames,Nov 26 '03
Pros: Nikon optics, manual, price Cons: no switch over auto modes if that is bad
I started on this camera I bought in Japan I bought for 2000 yen or about 150$. This is a great camera to learn exposure, this will do anything a 2000$ camera will do except it is all manual. Not good for snapshots but if you want complete control you got it. If you want to shoot in the rain the only thing that runs off the batteries is the light meter.

Pros: Metering, Battery Life, Reliability Cons: Loud Shutter, Some Cheap Plastic Parts
The Nikon has an amazing metering system that gives you the perfect lighting every time. The shutter is a bit too loud. This camera has many great lenses that it can be used with.

a great camera, period.
by combusto,Jan 20 '04
Pros: ease of use, no computer control, zoom lens, ergonomics Cons: the only thing to bring this camera down is me.
I purchased my FM10 about 4 years ago and i can honestly say i've never had a problem with it. It's design is lightweight and effecient and doesn't many of the things that seem common to cameras these days. Some may concider this a negative but i don't, i've never made a better consumer decision. I've never had a problem even in severe conditions, i.e. a minnesota winter, and have taken pictures that my old practika never could. The lens that comes with it isn't the cream of the crop but it gets the job done and it is nice to have some zoom capability built-in.
The fact that nothing on this camera is digitally controlled has made for headache free pictures that i can accually take credit for. i would and do recommend the FM10
