Pros: Ease of use, quality of product and photographs. No need to buy secondhand.
Cons: None so far. Slight concern over how long the batteries last.
I bought one of these cameras recently for my 11 years old son. On eBay in the UK, Vivitar have their own online shop. I paid just 23.50 pounds sterling for the camera (approx. $47 or Euros 30). Postage was very expensive at 9.99 pounds sterling. No blame on Vivitar - they shipped it themselves quick enough (the British Post Office dragged their feet on delivery). For this price we got a 1MB SD storage card included. It alone sells for $60, and two software packages (really not needed). Do the math yourself - this was a bargain i.e. much better than buying secondhand and receiving a dud camera. Initial impressions of the 4100 are very good. The few quick snaps run off are excellent. My son learnt the manual and functions of the camera in about ten minutes - it is taking his father slightly longer. The only unknown quantity is the life of the 2 x AA batteries. He is taking the camera on a school trip to Switzerland and I would prefer him not to need a suitcase full of batteries. If anyone has more experience of battery life - please post a bulletin.
