Pros: Long Battery, good input/output features, nice body Cons: cannot play DVD+R format
After browsing different brand names like Sony, Zenith, Philips I come up with the Toshiba SD-1900 for $169 at Best Buy. Since I pay a bit steep, Ill be more critical on quality and features. - First look: this unit looks neat, compact. The ...

Pros: good video/audio quality, multi-format support, long battery life Cons: a bit heavy, the spinning DVD can be slightly noisy sometimes
I started to look for a portable DVD player as we're going to have an intercontinental flight with our 3-yr old son. We need something to occupy him besides his books and toys. My on-line research led me to the SDP1900. In the age of sub-$100 player ...

Toshiba SD-P1900 DVD Player 'No Valid Disc'
by a38447634,Oct 19 '08
Pros: None. Strong do not buy recommendation. Cons: Do not buy Toshiba DVD player. Extremely poor quality.
Would not suggest buying this unit as Toshiba's design and manufacturing ability would appear to border on incompetence. Have liked Toshiba in the past, have one of their laptops, but would really stay away from their products on a go forward basis. I purchased Unit Model SP-P1900SN, date stamped October 2007 S, SN FC106112100. Unit gives 'No Valid Disc' error, after only 6 months of very light use and disc does not turn.

Waste of Money
by lawnguylander,Sep 29 '08
Pros: It's not too heavy, has not exploded and makes a good paperweight. Cons: I only got about 6 hours use out of it.
This product was a waste of money. I got exactly one round trip air trip out of it before receiving the "No Valid Disc" error message anytime I try to use it. I strongly recommend staying away from this defective piece of machinery.

Poor quality
by ck08,Jan 16 '08
Pros: Nice design, decent screen Cons: low sound volume, poor quality, short labor warranty
I received the SD-P1900 and it worked for about 1 month. We now continually receive a "No Valid Disc" error. I've owned this unit for about 5 months and Toshiba tells me that I have to return it to them (at my cost) because the service centers no longer want to service small electronics. In addition, it will cost me $59 flat rate to repair it, because it's past the 90 day labor warranty. This experience has made me lose faith in Toshiba and their business practices. From my research - the "no valid disc" error isn't unusual. Where there's an ongoing problem - there should be a recall or free repair - correct!! Companies that know they are manufacturing poor quality give a 90 day labor warranty - Toshiba should consider standing behind their products - they are ruining their good name.
