Settling for Close Enough

by RainbowDoll, Nov 01 '04
Pros: Affordability, Light-weight, Small in size, Multiple statistics calculated
Cons: Slightly inaccurate
I received the SportLine Pedometer from my husband for my birthday. I had hinted that I wanted a pedometer, and he chose this one, at Walmart. Admittedly, I would have preferred a slightly more expensive model, as this one was only around $9. However, ...

Inaccurate Pedometer
by msbluey,Feb 11 '06
Pros: Nice clip. I like the cover on it - that's about it though.
Cons: Inaccurate count in steps. Loud clicking noise.
The step count is very inaccurate. I bought this one after my clip on my other one from Source City broke. This one came from Walmart. I know that I take more than 1900 steps a day. The pedometer is clipped onto a belt on my jeans daily. I constantly check whether it is straight or not. It's straight. It's also headed straight for the garbage.

DO NOT BUY THIS PEDOMETER!

walk or run to another pedometer
by magifus,May 24 '06
Pros: cheap
Cons: inaccurate, doesn't stay closed
I bought this yesterday at Target and it doesn't stay closed and is totally inaccurate and will be returned for a better model. I thought it was because my overalls were making it difficult to record yesterday but it works no better on my pants today. The lid also opens too easily which causes it to stop recording. Good number of features and easy to program but other than that a piece of junk.

Flimsy but Accurate
by jerryg1,Feb 20 '05
Pros: Highly accurate....the best I have had
Cons: Terribly made....guaranteed to stop working
I have had three pedometers.... A FitPro Hi Gear Mark III, an Oregon Scientific, and this Sportline 345. The Sportline is by far the most accurate BUT....they break within weeks. NOI a good investment.

The not so expensive pedometer
by elisa75,Feb 10 '05
Pros: small, light weight, clips on, barely noticeable
Cons: does not count steps accurately
I was looking for a product that would be used mainly for counting my steps throughout the day. I get to Wal-Mart and I see various models and decided upon this one for the fact that it could calculate calories and could be used for jogging and hiking as well. I also loved the fact that it was small enough to just clip to my pant and not be noticed. I've tested it for maybe 2 days and I'm finding that the counts are inaccurate. I've taken it off while I'm driving and any little speed bump or quick car movement causes the pedometer to count that as a step. This is definitely being returned and something else will be bought.

DON'T BUY SPORTLINE!
by lahunt,Dec 27 '04
Pros: It was great while it lasted!
Cons: So frustrating to just have it stop working without warning. No tech support.
I bought this model when the more expensive 350 model broke on me after a week...you thought I would have learned. All I wanted was something to measure my steps. Simple, right? Well, the 350($35) was multiplying my steps by three or four per step (you don't want to do that with Christmas cookies around) so I thought I was a lot more active than I actually was. Then, I caught on, and ran out and bought the 345 for $20 because I didn't want to be without a pedometer and that's all we could find during the holidays.

The Sportline website will tell you that if your unit malfunctions, you should remove or replace the batteries and that should fix the problem. (There is no phone number to call to get a live person on the line.) If not, you have a defective unit. I tried that with both of my pedometers. Bottom line, the second model, the 345, stopped working on the FIRST DAY I started using it. Just froze up. That was that. $20 worth of nothing.

Do yourself a favor. Don't spend money on Sportline.

my 2nd one
by mystmorgan,Jul 04 '05
Pros: Nice Cal burn and clock
Cons: will break easy ...not very acc
this is already my 2nd pedometer form Sport Line
and i got to say its better then the first one which broke at the clip less then a week
i like the cal burn and clock but steps seem to be diffent for day to day. i worry that it will break like my other one did
although i did get the first one for free all it had on it was steps and miles.
i spent $6.00 on it the best one i could find at wal-mart other then the one that talk
but i am thinking about buying me a high in price one like sportline 360 for 18.00 or oron hj-112 for 35.00
may be one of those will last long time but for now this will do me.
just if i was you go out and buy a better one or you will be spending your money on ones that will break and buy the time you are do you could of got ya a real nice one
