Pros: Picture quality, ergonomics, build quality, Sony special features. Cons: Small buttons on remote and unit. Embedded copy protection. Cheap but deeper discounts are rare.
For the executive summary, read only the bolded items. This is my third player since 2006. I own the Cyberhome CH-DVD 300S [reviewed on epinions] and Philips DVP642, all still work. However, they have quirks. Cyberhome won't play some of my ...
Pros: Plays older DVD's cheaper players might not be able to read; good picture and sound Cons: A-B Repeat and other control features are more complicated, not as convenient to use
Well, I have learned a good lesson this year. Stay away from those ultra-compact DVD players that run 30 to 40 dollars. Unless your DVD's are in pristine condition, those players won't play older or more heavily used discs at all. I have seen the ...
Pros: Has all the features you could want. Very good audio and video. Cons: First unit had problems.
I was a big fan of Sony quality until about 10 years ago. Then they went cheap and started their nutty DRM rootkit thing on audio CD's. I got a 20 year anniversary present from my company. The only choices I liked were a set of kitchen knives that ...
Great sounding player for the money by gilpi,Aug 10 '07
Pros: Excellent value, straight forward remote, good clean sound. Cons: Very light weight.
I needed a cd player for my audio system and being an audiophile on a budget, the Sony DVP-NS57P cannot be beat! Has great sound overall that comes close to more expensive players, good bass, mids and very nice soft and detailed highs. I cant speak for the video portion of this player since I have only used it in my sound system, Im very happy with it.
Pros: easy to set up. Good picture and sound Cons: Flimsy plastic tray to hold the discs. Bad customer support from SONY.
We loved it until for about three months. Then after fairly light use, it gave us the message, "no disk" or "can't read disk" It wouldn't play anything: new or old CDs and DVDs. We called SONY and they offered us a refurbished model, for $35 plus shipping. That's almost more than we originally paid. So we're in the market get a new DVD player. It certainly won't be another SONY.
