Pros: Great for the price and upscales to 1080i Cons: A little bulky
We needed to buy a new DVD player at one time and bought a DVD Recorder. Well our DVD Recorder didnt play back movies very well and so, yet again we were in the market for another DVD Player. We were looking for one at Best Buy and saw this ...
Pros: Excellent Video and Audio output. Plenty of features. Easy to Set Up. Cons: Flimsy construction. Toy-like remote.
After nearly 5 years of what seemed like constant use, my JVC DVD player decided to call it quits. Who can blame it after countless hours of playing Pixar movies, Care Bear episodes, Baby Einstein offerings as well as a smattering of Rush concerts...but ...
Pros: All the features you will need until the HD standard is decided. Cons: Long time between power on and playback.
Six months ago I donated my last Sony multi-disc player to one of my friends who needed a new DVD player and did not have the cash. Besides it had served me well for about eighteen months, and it gave me the excuse to buy a new toy for me. I liked all of ...
Pros: Exceptional tracking - at first Cons: Doesn't last long under heavy playing
I purchased the Sony DVPNC85H/B from Amazon to replace a Panasonic 5-disc changer that had begun to die after 5 years. The Sony provided excellent picture, sound, and tracking - for about a year. After about a year it began having trouble tracking, ...
Pros: Fastplay and Slowplay, disc exchange, excellent picture and sound quality, large variety of compatible discs Cons: Bulky, appears light and flimsy. Not many controls on the player.
I got this DVD player as part of a home-theater package when I bought the Sony HT-7000DH home-theater system. My review of the DVD player here is going to repeat some of the points I made in my review of the home-theater system. Essentially, this DVD ...
A Great Upconvert DVD Player by riggles,Sep 06 '08
Pros: Video Quality, Sound Quality, Hd Upconversion, Price, Very quiet operation. Cons: Flimsy remote, slower load times.
I bought the Sony upconvert player because my previous player was several years old and was experiencing problems. I am highly impressed with this player. I have it hooked up to a projector using an HDMI cable, and the picture quality is excellent. The upconversion makes regular dvd movies look like they are high definition formats. The sound is superb and the player comes with many excellent features. It can even read scratched and damaged discs and play them with literally no interruptions. For the price, it is an excellent player if you are not ready to spend alot of money to make the jump to Blu-ray. I found the construction of the player to be rather solid.
Pros: Lots of options, 5-disc, quick Cons: Limited front display; slow to power on/play
This is an easy to use upconverting player, supporting 480i, 480p, 720p, and 1080i. I'm using it on a 1080p set and it looks incredible. Great sound options as well. The 5-disc allowed me to replace my old Sony CD Player as well, and save a digital input on my receiver. Great unit, and a great price!
Pros: None compared to similarly priced units Cons: Not durable
Bought this at Sears in 05/2005. By December, I was having intermittent problems with disc changing. By February 2006, system would totally lock on a single disc, would not change and would not play. Wish I had found my receipt...
Pros: Cheap Cons: Not as advertised, non-existent return policy
Purchased unit due to high ratings and product specification to play CDs. Will not work without attached TV. This is not stated in product description. Neither SONY nor retailer (Etronics) offers any type of return or exchange option. Totally useless boat anchor.
Amazing quality of picture by bobby6644,Mar 21 '07
Pros: great picture quality Cons: Its a bit slow loading the DVD.
This DVD player was bought to go with the LCD Sharp TV. I didn't think that a DVD player could make that much difference in the quality in the picture. Hooking this up side by side with the old Sony DVD player you can really tell the difference. With the old on you see the grainy parts of the picture...With this New Sony you can't see any of the grainy parts of the picture, even on older DVD'S. I hooked this up with the HDMI cable. easy setup and easy to use.
The player itself does seem a bit flimsy. but for the price it was the most sturdy. I bought this at Best Buy. Also for the price this was the only one that came in Black. I have had this for about 3 months now. No problems so far.
