Pros: Great picture, great connections, easy to use(what DVD player isn't Cons: Remote but all remotes seem awkward to me.
Great Player- When I first played a blu-ray disc it was so clear I was amazed. The unit functions smoothly. There is a slight delay when opening the door to put in the disc and when you power on. I find this on many new items. But the few seconds is nothing- Hey slow down the world is not all fast food. Connections were simple- HDMI, latest version, converts old DVDs to 1080 so you get a great picture there as well.
Remote is a little clumsy, but going to universal later so I'm not worried.
Got a great deal as open item- out of box, but never used not a return- opened at store as floor model, but not put on shelf.
Bad product or bad luck by chris1epinions,May 20 '08
Pros: The casing looks cool. Cons: Poor reliability, poor service from Sony.
I bought this unit 2 months ago and have had problems with it. Although easy to use, the first unit I had had difficulty with dark still images; little white horizontal lines appeared. The unit was incredibly slow to respond to commands from the remote. It was returned to Sony and Sony performed a firmware update. Obviously, not diagnostic was done, same problem occured. The store changed the unit. Just recently, the remote stopped working. I have to go replace it. The Sony PSP3 works better, remote action works better. Ahhh I wish Toshiba had won the high definition disc war.
