NOT my favorite - frustrating to deal with!

by stayinhome3, Dec 12 '06
Pros: Versatile. Narrow without the base. Rear facing to 35 lbs!
Cons: Installation problems. Twisty straps. Not the only car seat you will ever have to buy!
WHY I PURCHASED THE SAFETY 1ST INTERA: My 3 yr old daughter was formerly forward facing in an Evenflo Triumph, but I began researching extended rear facing. I found out there were car seats that could be used rear facing up to 35 lbs (she was only 32 ...

Comfortable and functional at very reasonable price

by lagibson91, May 12 '06
Pros: Very comfortable, convertible, saves having to buy 3 carseats.
Cons: What the h-e-double-hockeysticks were the manual writers thinking? INSTALLATION is FRUSTRATING!!!
My daughter was about 4 months old when I developed a crick in my neck and a torn rotator cuff from constant turning around at red lights to put the pacifier in her mouth so she would stop crying. (Ok, so I exaggerated, it only FELT like a crick in the ...

Nice seat, but not as durable as it should be for the price

by reednowensmom, Apr 19 '07
Pros: higher weight limits, multi-functional (5 pt & booster), Easy to use
Cons: poor quality of seat cover. Horrible customer service, too large for some smaller cars
I am something of a baby gear addict. I own, or have researched, just about every piece of baby gear out there. So it was not a decision I made lightly when I chose this seat for my then-20-month-old son. The things I liked: 1. As you would expect ...

Cons: Nothing different than any other convertible seat!
I know when I started looking for a convertible seat that I wanted something nice & safe but less pricey than the Britax. I must say I am very please with what I have found! I spent hours online looking for reviews for this seat & found them on 2 ...

Safety 1st 4-in-1 Car Seat

by momma_bear1, Mar 28 '07
Pros: Never have to buy another car seat again!
Cons: Not a good rear-facing infant seat.
Why did we buy this product? We bought this car seat because our son grew out of his infant seat but was not old enough to be forward facing. What do we love about this product? I like the fact that it is a 4-in-1 seat. I will never have to buy ...

Ready for an exercise in Frustration?

by thomas810, Jul 09 '05
Pros: Head support for if child falls asleep, cup holder, both car seat / booster, cost
Cons: not possible to adjust easily, directions very difficult to follow, unusable and returned to store
Purchased this car seat for my three year old child. The seat is billed as a car seat for children in that age and weight class (30 lbs) between a carseat and soon a booster. After purchasing the item from Toys R Us... took it home and opened the box. ...

Easy to Install, Side Impact Protection Better Than any Others

by mfairbanks, Feb 01 '07
Pros: Easy installation, Great Side (Safety) support!
Cons: None, We Love it!
I purchased this seat due to the taller sides, for side impact safety. Which you have to go up to the more expensive seats. Being an automotive research engineer this is the best choice. Mine is the one with the red & grey trim colors. Installation is ...

Perfect for forward facing!

by hfesing, Jan 23 '08
Pros: Great product and well worth the money!
Cons: Hard to level rear facing. Hard to remove booster.
We purchased this car seat as a second seat when our daughter was born. It has lots of soft padding to protect your little one. The 5 point harness holds the child VERY securely, and with the push button, it's very easy to loosen and to pull tight. ...

Safety 1st Intera 5-point 4-in-1

by jackndrewsmom, Apr 20 '07
Pros: Can use for long time even with longer than average child.
Cons: None
I was originally given this carseat as a shower gift for my oldest son (2 years old now) and loved it. At the time we were driving an extended cab pickup and with the base it was impossible to reach him when he was rear-facing, but without the base it ...

Pros: Sturdy construction.
Cons: Heavy, inconvenient, very difficult to install in vehicle.
Whoever engineered this seat clearly has never had children nor had to contend with the issues of multiple vehicles in transporting infants. The procedure for threading the seat belt through the seat in infant (rear-facing) position, requires humanly impossible contortions. I ended up having to contrapt a tool from a wire hanger in order to complete the procedure. There are alternative tether straps with clips, but the use of those assumes a convenient and safe anchoring point in your vehicle...good luck.

If you are looking for a seat to move from one vehicle to another, forget it. It is a 20 minute process to install this seat in a vehicle.

I would recommend you keep looking at other, more convenient seating system options. We also have a Graco 3 in 1 seat system that is much much more convenient.

Great car seat
by clthdpr,Dec 28 '06
Pros: 4 in 1 car seat, can be used up to 100 pounds! Reclines.
Cons: It is quite heavy, best used in 1 vehicle
We bought this car seat when our daughter reached her weight limit on her rear facing infant car seat. She is now 19 months old and we have been really pleased with this car seat. It's comfy, sturdy, and easy to use once you take 5 mins to read the manual. The initial installation can be confusing but once you've figured it out its wonderful. This seat can be used up to 100 pounds! yay!
tip: metal rod on bottom pushes through (push tabs aside) and pulls out the other side.

Safety first intera
by man99009,Dec 13 '06
Pros: easy to get her in/out. base is a separate booster- really getting 2 seats.
Cons: was difficult to put together originally.
We've had this for over a year now. I think it's great. She is comfortable in it, and it holds her snuggly for safety.
We got it because it had all the feature I felt were MUST HAVES.
-5 point harness - especially for infant
-has a way to snuggly support a small infant as well as be big enough for a toddler
-reclines, so she can sleep without the "head bob"
-ability to change straps while child is in seat and seat is buckled into car.

And it was the best price for the things I wanted.

I really like this one
by yopopso,Sep 08 '05
Pros: Solid, safe, and secure when installed with care
Cons: Not an instant McCarseat
We got this seat for my 5 month old girl (now 7 months) and we really like it so far. I can see how some people can get frustrated in installation but I spent maybe 15 minutes installing the seat into our SUV and it is solid and stable. As my SUV has very inclined rear seats, I chose to purchase a foam insert to level out the car seat. This is an issue with some SUV's, not the car seat. I really like how it adjusts to fit her continuous growth including the ease of the adjustable straps. If you are looking for a car seat that you can pull out of the box, throw into the back seat of you car and drive off in one quick and easy motion, I would not get this one. However, if you are willing to spend a few minutes reading the included instructions to see how the designers intended on this seat working, you will end up with a solid, stable, safe car seat that will grow with the child.

Great Car Seat for the Price!
by kaden_sdad,Aug 20 '07
Pros: Very Comfortable! Great safety ratings! Multiple car seats in one package!
Cons: A little bulky, but most convertible car seats are!
We bought this car seat when my son was about 6 months old. He had outgrown the weight limit on his infant car seat. This car seat is great because it is so comfortable for our baby. He just turned 14 months old and we still love it. It isn't any harder to put in than my older son's car seat. I think that the latch installation is really pretty similar on most car seats. I love that the car seat can grow with him. When my 3 year old gets tall enough, we can even use the base (booster seat) for him and continue to use the main part of the car seat for our younger child. We have used the car seat rear and forward facing and loved it both ways. I would suggest this car seat to anyone! The Intera car seat is rated very high in magazines and on car seat safety websites.
