busby777's Full Review: Jergens Natural Glow Firming Daily Moisturizer for...
My experience with Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer - Firming - for Medium Skin Tones
I am a makeup klutz, so I do not use many cosmetics. Mostly, I use moisturizers, but they simply were not doing the trick when it comes to my legs. Since it's summer, and I'm going out in short pants, I wanted my legs to look presentable. It isn't just that I've kept them covered up all winter with long pants and sweats in our snowy mountains.
I do not tan. I get freckles on my face and arms, but the skin on my legs looks like a yellowish tissue with all of the veins showing through. Regular self-tanning lotions make my legs look so dark that they must belong to somebody else's body, since the rest of me is so fair. Sometimes it even turns orange, which wouldn't look natural on anybody. The light color that this lotion provides is a definite plus for me.
Another plus is that you don't have to wait long for the sunless tanning effect to go away if you don't want it any more. Some other brands will stay put, orange spots and all, through the whole summer. Jergens has such a light touch that it goes away within a few days after you quit using it.
So there I was, putting on short pants for the first time this summer, and dreading the prospect of people seeing my yellow legs.
Jergens to the rescue! I got a free sample of the full-size product, which normally costs between $8 and $10 for a tube that contains 7.5 ounces. They gave me the medium formula, instead of the one for fair skin, but I like it and don't intend to switch. The tanning effect is so slight that I can't imagine using a lighter formula.
Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer - Firming - for Medium Skin Tones makes the skin on my legs look moisturized and glowing, without darkening it too much.
Use Daily
After using this product every day for a week, my legs looked the right color for the rest of me, and they really do glow. I like it better than other moisturizers that I've tried, and much better than other sunless self-tanning lotions that I've tried.
Tips
You need to wash first, so that you are applying this moisturizer to clean skin. On the first day, my skin was not noticeably darker, but it did look moisturized. I have dry skin, so that was an improvement. However, I was slathering on too much at once, without paying too much attention to spreading it out evenly.
By the third day, I was noticing a few spots and streaks. You really do need to be careful that you apply the lotion evenly, to avoid that problem.
Now, at first little bits of it were flaking off, but that was my own fault. Once I used the old Loofa to exfoliate my skin, the little flakes of my own dead skin quit carrying off the tanning lotion.
I also found out on the third day that you need to wash this lotion off of your hands, unless you like having brown hands. (The instructions say to wash your hands thoroughly, but I am not very good at following instructions.)
Another problem I encountered was that the lotion must be completely dry before you let your skin come into contact with things like white sheets, shirts and slacks. The lotion will turn them brown, too. I will be more careful about that in the future.
The box also says to use it more often, if you want darker skin. I have been using it twice a day, and I am happy with it.
Other features:
Firming
I'm not entirely certain what "firming" means, but my skin does look and feel better. Jergens says that this lotion is "clinically proven to firm skin." Okay.
Dermatologist tested
The box says that it is "Dermatologist tested: oil-free, lightweight, non-comedogenic."
Stinky
Mom always used Jergens hand lotion, and its light cherry scent brings back childhood memories. Not so with Natural Glow. It smells as if something died in it. However, the scent is light and scarcely noticeable after half an hour.

Closing thoughts:
No matter how much time I spend in the sun, I do not tan. I burn, but I do not tan. This lotion gives my skin just enough color to prove that I am not a vampire who prowls the night and sleeps in a coffin all day.
