Pros: Complete coverage, great editorials, international coverage Cons: Too much focus on politics, very weak editions in smaller cities.
The Times of India is arguably the most recognizable and widely read newspaper in India. The reason for this is that it is one of the few English dailies that is read all across the country.
The newspapers has separate editions...

Pros: Excellent layout and coverage. Runs polls and regular contests. Cons: Often filled with too many advertisements. Weak presence in the east.
The Times of India is the most popular and widely distributed newspaper in India. An unshakable hold in the west. And rapidly expanding throughout the country with the east (Kolkata) being the most recent addition.

The Tabloid of India
by lramesh,Oct 04 '04
Pros: None I can think of, maybe good value as a raddi. Cons: Please see above.
Please read this (so called) newspaper if you,
want to get a wrong impression about the taste of Indians,
want to see semi-naked women on the first page.
don't want to read news, but simply want to browse and look at colorful ads.
don't care about pressing social issues, but so keen on sensational celebrity gossips
and beauty pageants.
Please don't read it if you
want professional journalistic reporting
want to get something out of daily paper.
don't have much time and are looking for a tabloid paper.
If you don't believe what is said, please pickup a copy of "Sunday Times" (Sunday edition of TOI) and see it for yourself.

One of the best
by pravinkn,Apr 11 '08
Pros: high circulation, lots of ads , cheap. Cons: gives prominence some gossip stuff
The Times of India is the leading newspaper in India based on circulation. It is published from all the major cities in India. It is owned by Benett and Coleman Company Ltd and is one of the oldest newspapers in India. It is over 150 years old. In fact, Times of India claims to be among the top five newspapers of the world.
Every day, the times comes up with a supplement like the Education times, Times Auto ,Property times etc along with the local supplement like the Bangalore times in Bangalore ,Mumbai times in Mumbai etc..
Recently they have made it more spicy with adding racy photos and bollywood news and gossips. It also comes up with color supplements and has tried leading some initiatives like lead india, traffic management etc ....
It has also other sister publications in other languages like the navbaharat times in hindi , vijay times in kannada etc..
The number of pages are also higher compared to other newspapers in india and is also one of the lowest priced newspapers. It gives Economic times out for a rupee in some cities.
