I just experienced the best customer service I can remember and I'm well into my 5th decade of life! Amazon went so far above and beyond the call of duty that I still think I've dreamt this all up.
I bought a Kindle Touch only to discover that in the latest version they don't support free web-browsing via 3G (which is excessively generous in the first place). I called and said I wanted to send the Kindle back because I misunderstood the 3G feature. They could have easily said, "Too bad you didn't read the marketing more carefully. You'll only get a partial refund upon returning it." Instead, the service person said they fully understood the mistake and then proceeded to send me the UPS tags to return the Kindle for free. On top of that they promised I'd get a full refund even thought the package was opened and I'd used the Kindle. But wait folks, it gets even better: I decided to get the Kindle Keyboard because it does support free 3G for "everything" (sans video, but I don't care about video). When I ordered it, Amazon EXPEDITED the deliver so I got it in ONE DAY! I'm stunned. Just stunned. Five stars for you Amazon! Five stars!!
