I've bought on eBay in the past and decided I would try selling an item left to me by my grandmother that was not something I really had a use for. Big mistake. eBay, I have discovered, prays on the seller. The fees are rediculously high these days and they allow dishonest sellers to run wild. I had to list my item three times in order to find a semi-honest buyer. eBay refused... REFUSED to take any responsibility for the rampant fraud and dishonesty. They refused to refund any of the listing fees. The buyer must have been aware that this was a third time on the relist because immediately after the sale was final he wanted a refund on a portion of the price because he had found it cheaper elsewhere. He wanted a refund or he would refuse to pay. I contacted eBay and they just wanted me to deal with the guy, to "communicate" was the term they used.
I wound up having to give the guy a refund of $100 on the price and also to eat a good percentage of the shipping cost because the shipping calculator that they use is completely wrong - I lost yet another $40 on that. I think the only way you can succeed on eBay is if you are a volume seller that has all the details worked out in advance.
Me? I'll NEVER sell on eBay again. I may buy, but selling is a rip-off if you are a one-time seller. Don't expect anything from eBay customer service but a cut-and-paste answer out of their FAQ database. Customer service does not exist there any more.
