Worst car rental experience ever. I made the reservation on Dollar's web site for an SUV 2 months in advance for the Denver Airport and even called the day before arrival to re-confirm. Upon arrival at the Denver Airport Dollar Rental Counter there was a sign stating proceed directly to shuttle to the off-site rental location(no one was at the counter). We arrive at the Dollar rental site where I stand in line 30 min. while my wife and kids stand outside in the freezing cold with the luggage. When I finally get to the counter I am told there are no SUV's available so they will substitute with a minivan. I said I don't want a minivan, I want the SUV I reserved. His response was "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO, MAKE ONE. The other rental agent standing next to him said " If you don't like it you can leave without a car, I don't care. We were not the only ones. It appeared that most of the people there had reserved SUV's over the internet through Dollar at the great rate they had posted, only to discover these SUV's weren't available and they would have to accept something less. This is also the reason I stood in line 30 min. upon arrival, much of the rental agent's time was spent with customer disputes over why they were not getting the vehicle they reserved And what are you to do? At that point you are at their mercy since you are now stranded at there small facility 2 miles from the airport! Never rent from Dollar car rental ( Certainly not in Denver) no matter how good the rate.
