Pros: Nice vehicle, drives and handles well Cons: Some minor problems
When I decided to buy my first new car in 5 years, and only my second new car ever, I put a lot of thought into it. I had rented 4-Dr Explorers several times and had really come to like the features of them. For me personally, I didn't think I needed a...

Pros: Engine, handling, comfort-level, doo-dads, cost Cons: Electrical system, tire-recall/death trap, Ford's lack of morals
I leased a '99 Ford Explorer Sport (2WD) 2 years ago and have been very happy with it. I did a lot of research into SUV's before picking the Ford Explorer. The Toyota 4-Runner seems, overall, a better vehicle, but it is underpowered and sluggish in...

Pros: NICE INTERIOR, GREAT SOUND SYSTEM, ROOMY Cons: FALLS APART AFTER THE WARRANTY GOES OUT
I bought this vehicle last year because I wanted a professional looking vehicle that I could drive to a construction site (I am an architect). I found this Explorer and thought that this vehicle would be perfect for work and recreation. I...

Pros: Agile, spacious Cons: Less cargo space in the back than the 4-door
After driving a 4-door Explorer for 3 years, the Explorer Sport is definitely refreshing.
The Explorer Sport has much better handling than the 4-door, and seems to get up and go a lot faster than the 4-door. Although the cargo space in the...

Pros: Lots of space and very powerful! Cons: Not a very smooth drive. The Bottom Line: If you need space and power and your budget is not for a Range Rover then buy a ford explorer. A decision you wont regret.
The ford explorer is the most sold SUV in the United States and there is a reason for that. You basically get a lot of vehicle for your money.
The ford explorer comes in a range of version, sports (2 doors) and the standard version with 4...

Pros: Spacious, lots of power, solidly built. Cons: Gas mileage. The Bottom Line: I love mine and I know plenty of people that love theirs. They're not the number one selling SUV every year for nothing.
I bought my 1999 Explorer Limited V8 with 55,000 miles on it. It now has 68,000 miles and is as stro ...

Pros: Pricing better than Japanese. Good turning radius. Good acceleration. Decent gas mileage (20 mpg overall). Cons: Initial Shakedown cruise needed to get small bugs out. Wheelbase is slightly narrow. The Bottom Line: Yes, if you tire of the typical Japanese stuff. I think this is the best American midsize SUV and still is.
I loved the car at purchase, the V-6 SOHC accelerated well, but it had a rough idle and slight vibration. The vibration took a few trips to the dealer before they isolated it to the exhaust pipe. The rough idle actually got better after 80K as I ...

Pros: nice SUV Cons: TIRES!!!
My sister got a 1999 Ford Explorer 2WD 2 Door Sport for her 16th birthday. It was a great SUV to start off with. At first, everything was great and nothing went wrong.
Now...from what we thought was a little problem...we're ending up having...

Pros: Nice comforts, stylish, passenger features. Cons: Sounds like it always needs an oil change. The Bottom Line: It is a great overall vehicle, it does everything that it is asked.
I purchased my 99 Explorer in September 2001. It had just over 45000 miles on it. It came pretty well loaded for the XLT, leather seats, moonroof, rear ac/heat, cd player, digital compass. The two wheel drive has done just fine for me and my wife loves...

Pros: Great Inside, drives great for the few weeks Cons: It falls apart on you in a few weeks
This is a OK suv i bought one of them around last year. and it is still up and running. One of the problems i ran into and i have seen was that. The transfer case was very hard to get to when i had to replace it. Another problem with this SUV was there was a lot of problems in the 1999 parking brakes. But after a while there was problems left and right. You fix one thing another thing would go wrong.I'm never getting another ford explorer ever again. next Truck I'm going to get in a few weeks is a 2005 F-150 FX4. Fords have really good trucks. Got to love the FORDS TRUCKS

Pros: Roomy, fun to drive, plenty of cargo space. Cons: mileage
I purchased the SUV as a Certified Used Vehicle from a local Ford dealership and have been surprised at how pleased I am with the vehicle.
It handles beautifully and I have not had any major problems. The only minor problems I have had are handled by warranty.

NEVER LET ME DOWN

Pros: Tough and reliable and safe..a work horse. Cons: no stablelizer bar. Be careful on fast turns.
I bought the 1999 Ford Explorer with a little over 25,000 miles on it. Six years later and over 200,000 miles on it..its still running as if it were new. I did stay on top of the maintenance as far as changing all the fluids and break pads. Just recently I finally took it in for a tune-up and to repair the exhaust. I can't say enough about this truck with regards to reliability and power. It does however has its little nik naks..what car/truck doesn't. The back wiper? Forget about it. The front driver seat snapped back and had to be replaced and it does rattle a bit around the exhaust. BUT..it has never let me down and I live in the north east. It has got me through the most nastiest weather. Needless to say after all these years I am still in love with my Explorer. Never thought I would feel this way about a Ford. I only buy Honda and Toyota.

Pros: hauling capacity, fun to drive Cons: gas mileage, not great for infants to toddlers.
I have had my Explorer 2 door for about two years now. I love it! My five year old has plenty of room to be comfortable in the back seat and there's alot of room for hauling things around.
The only problem I have with it is that the cruise went out and my 6'2" husband is a little cramped in it, but it's the PERFECT size for me.
