Bang For The Buck

really good movie

by diatomics, May 06 '08
Pros: really inspiration to me
Cons: lacked was some better character development, some superior writing, and some world class acting
I really had very high expectation when I went to watch this movie. While I say it's a pretty good family movie to watch with your kids, I actually watched it with my girlfriend that day. It got me pretty inspired to be a chef for a moment. In ...

Ratatouille

by stardom08, Jun 07 '08
Pros: great plot
Cons: strange ending
This movie was possibly one of the few animation Disney movies that both adults and children can sit down and watch as a family. The only other movies of this caliber I can remember are the Lion King, Finding Nemo, A Bugs Life...maybe there are a few. ...

Cute family film

by dawnlg, May 23 '08
Pros: Funny, enjoyable movie for all.
Cons: It's a little intense for young children
Ratatouille seems at first to be an impossible movie to play out. It's premise about a family of rats seems to have no where to go. But add to that a member of the family that wants to be a chef and all of the sudden you have a fun, interesting ...

Ratatouille...worth a look!

by melindad123, Jul 13 '08
Pros: Great visual effects, beautiful artwork.
Cons: Could not get invested in one particular story line.
Being a long time children's movie junkie, I was thrilled when I saw another Pixar project come to light; however, I must say that it was not as engaging and entertaining as previous releases. Let me say, I do not have children, but I spend a great deal ...

A rat in the kitchen, how daring!

by destiney88, Jul 01 '08
Pros: Great animation, had a few laughs, learn a little about french food!
Cons: Too much like the many other animated movies circling around.
I saw this movie in the theater when it came out. It was a 6 on a scale of 1-10. The animation was wonderful; as were the characters. It seemed to be an extremely long movie. The scenes were kind of annoying. I enjoyed the family of rats, all of ...

Slow Simmer

by lcsikorski, Jan 07 '08
Pros: Excellent animation and quite an original story
Cons: Characters not as cute and lovable as other Pixar films.
My children who were 2, 4, and 6 begged me to see this film when it first came to theaters. It was Pixar which is always a safe bet for entertaining our family. I have to say that at the show the 4 and 6 year old were not entranced the same way they were ...

Pixar's done it again

by kurnett, Jul 09 '07
Pros: : Good animation, funny, nice idea
Cons: : I wanted Remy to reveal himself on Linguini's head way earlier in the movie
I have two pet rats, and am a big fan of Pixar, so I was biased toward Ratatouille before I saw it. But even if I hated rats and Pixar, Ratatouille would have make me like both. As always, the animation is incredible. I also liked the scenes where Remy ...

I heart Ratatouille

by dylanangel2001, Apr 22 '08
Pros: Funny, cute, and heartwarming
Cons: None!
I don't care if you are young or old you will enjoy Ratatouille! I had to beg my parents to buy it when it came out cause I had seen it twice in theaters and knew they would love it. But like most older adults, they didn't want to get a "cartoon." But ...

Bang For The Buck
A cute and funny family movie
by mrbeachy,Jul 03 '07
Pros: The animation and voices are very well done.
Cons: Some would consider it too babyish.
I saw ratatouille earlier this evening, expecting to be bored and fall asleep. But to my surprise it was quite entertaining with some good laughs. The voice of Brad Garrett as ratatouille was quite good,as were the facial expressions. Brian Dennehy and Jeanine Garafolo's voices also contributed to an enjoyable film.

Without giving away the punchline, its a story of how a rat tries to live and adapt in a non rat-friendly world.

No Morals
by kidsgrow2bgr8,Jun 30 '07
Pros: Animation, cute characters, interesting plot
Cons: Lack of morals by lead characters, poor role models for children
The Animation in "Ratatouille" is beautiful. The characters are charming. The story and action are interesting and appealing. But being a mother of 5 young, well behaved children I must say the morals are non-existent--the main characters achieve their goals through dishonesty and cheating. The human lead character-- we learn later in the story, is an illegitimate child who never knew who his father was. He also says "I don't drink" --yet, without hesitation consumes an entire bottle of wine! I do not like the weakness exemplified in the main characters as role models. I believe in messages to shape and improve the character of our children rather than teach dishonesty as means to prove an individuals worth or talent. A parent viewing this film with children certainly must discuss how failure is the true result of cheating in the real world, and should not allow this to become a "Family Favorite" viewed repeatedly in the home when it comes out on video.

Ho-hum. The title is the cutest joke
by j_cricket,Jul 03 '07
Pros: Reminds me to got to a good restaurant
Cons: Predictable, boring, no surprises, no jokes.
Don't believe the industry reviewers.

There was not one laugh in this movie. Ok, maybe one laugh -- when a tough-guy rat tenderized a steak by using it as a punching bag.

Otherwise, My kids, me, and just about the entire theater fell asleep in the movie.

The entire movie is the trailer. Yep, over and over again.

The woman interest is the same figure from the Incredibles, only black haired instead of blond.

There was no surprises in the entire movie.

Except the food. I did stop at a fine restaurant that night to get a nice meal.

The chase scenes were a bit like Flushed Away. Ho-hum and meaningless.

Overall, I didn't like wasting a few hours on this movie. And I'm a Pixar fanatic. I loved the Incredibles. Not this.

Recommendation: Get it for your kids on DVD when you don't have to watch.

Entertaining yet fairy tale
by crazyfinger,Mar 10 '08
Pros: character of a mice as chef is not quite suitable yet very deceiving
Cons: the animation quality looks like 5 years behind it was released.
This an amazing and entertaining story line of a mice chef who actually wanted and wished to be known as a chef due to his quite impressive ability as a young chef in a rat/mouse community. The main character is looking and pondering his life to find his true meaning rather being a typical rat as his siblings, family and friends. His journey starts when he is accidentally meet a heir of a restaurant who unfortunately does not have quite the talent to be a chef as others expected.
