May be a good PC, but definitely is a bad DVR.

by tnspruitt, Sep 06 '07
Pros: Great feature set for a reasonable price
Cons: System is very unstable.
I received this unit a week ago and have put at least 40 hours into it to get it tolerable. Since I still have issues, I can only comment on what I think the problems are, but impression is that the problems are mostly SW related. I have had over 4 ...

use the nvidia graphics driver!
by senorkasio,Jan 26 '08
Pros: great design, compact, lots of features for the money
Cons: poor dual monitor performance
Same problems as above. I am able to switch between vga monitor and s-video (a standard ntsc TV), but....

- when i switch to tv and then back to vga, the vga looks like crap. the picture is all over-exposed and blown out and i have to reboot to get it to look right again.
- I can't clone them. same as above, spent countless hours with hp on phone.
- To run the s-video, I had to install drivers from the nvidia website, not hp! hp keeps trying to replace the driver during updates and it scrambles the s-video picture.

I agree with other review. as a pvr, this unit has a ways to go.

HP and the store can't identify the problem
by bananas5,Sep 13 '08
Pros: compact size, but that has been over shadowed by the above.
Cons:

Can't position mouse on internet; turn off computer every 20 mins.

System purchased in March 2008. I have spent countless hours talking with HP. I can't accurately position the mouse which is a serious problem. HP finally mailed a new mouse, doesn't help, nor does a new mouse pad, which I purchased.

additionally, I work from home, if i leave the computer idle for more than 20 minutes, the monitor and computer goes to sleep, as it should. However, moving the mouse does not awake the monitor only the computer. The only solution has been to turn off the machine and start over. The store gave me a new monitor two days ago, that has not help. So today, I start over again with the same problems of mouse and sleeping monitor!
