Inova X5 - a REALLY Bright Idea

by caradoc, Nov 11 '02
Pros: Absolutely the toughest little flashlight I've ever owned.
Cons: This flashlight uses the most expensive batteries for any light I've owned!
I go through flashlights like some people go through socks.

Usually, I lose the flashlights to broken bulbs, scratches, dents, shredded O-rings, exploded batteries, or other damage. I've gone through a couple of MagLites, one Underwater...

Inova X5: Really good!

by i7r7, Apr 16 '03
Pros: Bright, durable, waterproof, looks cool and extremely small.
Cons: None.
If you're looking for a good flashlight, you can't do much better than the Inova X5 Tactical (X5T). This flashlight has the best quality construction that I have ever seen in any torch (possible exception: Surefire). This LED torch is made entirely of...

Tough construction. Pretty good light.

by nathanbell, Apr 01 '06
Pros: Superb construction Slick looking Good battery life Reasonably priced
Cons: Light isn't very concentrated Uses expensive lithium batteries
I received the Inova X5 as a Christmas present about a year ago and have been pretty pleased with it. Inova started up in 1991. I'm not sure how actually popular they are so far but they make a range of different lights that run on the LED diodes. ...

Tough as nails, very bright and low energy consumption!

by jcyc5, Dec 26 '05
Pros: Unbreakable! Very bright, wide coverage and excellent battery usage rate
Cons: Cost of batteries!
I recently purchased the Inova X5 for camping use... and I could not be happier! I have a Surefire 6P that I always keep on me, but it does not serve the same purpose at all when compared to the X5. Made of 5 brilliant-white LEDs housed in a almost ...

Great Things in Small Packages

by motormanic, May 28 '03
Pros: Light Weight, Durbable and BRIGHT..
Cons: None noted
I have a CCrane 5 LED Flash Light, but this one seems Brighter, Lighter, and virtually indestructible. The Rear Tactical Switch and Light Weight Belt Holster makes it IDEAL as a Back Up for Law Enforcement, v. the Stinger which needs constant...

The Best!
by punnkmonkey,Nov 09 '08
Pros: Size for brightness. Quality.
Cons: None. BATTERIES can be found at lower prices.
Very compact, bright flashlight. Great for just about any situation. Ideal for servers in dark restaraunts or movie theaters, obvious tactical applications, night running/walking and mobile medical services.

I found the 123A batteries @ 1.00-1.50 each at several online stores. Don't be fooled by the name brands charging 12.00-15.00 for 2 batteries. They are all roughly the same. Even if the generic brands last half as long as the name brand, you will still save half your cash buying online.

Also, this flashlight runs approx 20 hours before having to change the batteries. Since the average flashlight using AAA or AA lasts between 2-5 hours, the price of the 123A battery is not really an issue.

I have compared several flashight types and have to say the Inova is by far the best I have used. One simple side by side comparison will convince you. Check out some video websites and type in Inova X5 to see some guys demonsrtate the specs and their opinions.

Works Great-No Holster Included
by scuba1954,Mar 23 '07
Pros: Bright light
Cons: NO NYLON HOLSTER AS STATED ON THEIR WEBSITE, and they will not send one.
I ordered this flashlight because at www.inovalight.com website they show that this light comes with a Nylon Holster. I needed the holster for use at my job.
When the light came it had a lanyard but no holster! I left numerous messages at Inovas customer service and they never responded to either phone or email messages.
I contacted the dealer that I ordered it from and after two days Inova answered their email with a short response that states they no longer include the Holster, only a lanyard. The company I bought this from is checking into supplying me with an aftermarket holster for no charge. They told me that they ran into this problem two months ago with another inova light not having the advertised holster.
Bottom line if you need a led light with a holster STAY AWAY FROM INOVA!!! Also, their customer service in NON-EXISTANT.

Small and really bright
by motomille,Jan 18 '05
Pros: Bright, small, tough metal, waterproof.
Cons: Expensive, odd batteries
There's a few things that I really like about this flashlight. It's machined from aluminum which means no rust and it's thick so you can drive over the thing with a truck. Next, it uses LED's which means low power draw from batteries. The batteries are swanky batteries that are used in things like cameras which also means long life but they're not cheap. All in all I've used the thing regularly for a year and it's shining like new. The LED's cast a blue white light. Looks very white compared to the yellowish tint cast by regular bulb. It's not the lightest weight unit but what do you expect for a milled piece of metal. Everyone should have one of these for camping. They make a headband that you can fit this into and use it as a headlamp. Pretty cool!
