by dkozin, Feb 21 '08
Pros: Performance, image quality, easy to use, 2 AA batteries, features, price, uses SD cards
Cons: Slow flash recycle time
The Canon PowerShot A720 IS features 8-Megapizel resolution, 6x optical zoom and optical image stabilization. Very similar to the last year¡¯s A710 IS (but with higher resolution), the A720 is a very good camera and here is why/ Although Canon makes ...

Light/pocketable high quality all purpose compact digital camera

by dsantachiara, Oct 21 '07
Pros: Light/pocketable high quality all purpose compact digital camera. Minor improvements over A710is
Cons: ISO 1600 poor, Camera Windows software worsened, no wireless file transfer
- Premise The A720is replaces the less than two years old A710is at the same if not lower price: around 250 euro in Europe, 250$ in the US. It seems that even if nowadays 1 euro corresponds to 1,43$ the prices of electronic components in the US and EU ...

Great backup or day trip digital camera

by jybravo70, Jan 31 '08
Pros: Uses AA batteries, light, numerous modes, AV out, updated software
Cons: ISO 400 and above noisy, SD card in battery compartment, processing time, flash recharge time
I purchased this camera 2 months ago to replace my trusty but aging PowerShot A620. It was available via a rewards program so I took the chance based mainly on it being a Canon product, 8 Mega Pixels, updated CCD and processor, and lighter then the old ...

too many options

by rdas77, Oct 18 '07
Pros: It has many Options and functionality. It has high mega pixels ratio and zoom.
Cons: It is bulky. Image stabilization did not seem to work. Also it is not intuitive.
We just brought Cannon A720IS because we read good reviews on the Internet and also because it has high mega pixel ratio and zoom. It has many options but I could not figure out how to use the many settings and options. It is not very intuitive. My ...

Lots better by comparison

by kentmom, Oct 23 '07
Pros: Easy-to-learn menus and settings; quiet operation; capable of recording up to 60 minutes of video
Cons: Sorta' slow regen time between flash shots
The Canon A720IS stands heads and shoulders above the (three) Olympus cameras I've used - and I found its menus and settings more user-friendly than the two Nikon Coolpix models I've handled. In the first few weeks of using this camera, I've found the ...

Better Get a Rechargeable Battery System!

by notksanymore, Apr 23 '08
Pros: Fabulous resolution Many different photo settings
Cons: Battery usage Heavier/bulkier due to the AA batteries
I received this camera as a Christmas present to replace a Sony Sure Shot that had a Sony lithium battery that had challenges. Unfortunately, my husband didn't do a lot of research and bought this one that uses AA batteries ... and a lot of them. We ...

Best deal on a replacement for my A70

by bnl683, Jan 23 '08
Pros: A little smaller (2 AA's), Bigger screen, more resolution
Cons: Long write to card time
Please note that this is basically a comparison between the A70 and A720 IS. I purchased the A70 in the summer of 2003. It has served me well until the sensor malfunction (for which there is a "recall"). I purchased the A720 on 12-20-2008 and received ...

Great for amateurs

by sungirl101, Dec 21 '07
Pros: Good price and lots of features.
Cons: Batteries die really fast, need to buy bigger memory card.
The Canon PowerShot A720IS Digital Camera has been a great family camera. I originally was looking for budget friendly easy to use point and shoot camera for a person with no camera experience, and this has done a great job. The camera is lightweight ...

High Quality Photos With Many Options For The Photographer

by jengen, May 26 '08
Pros: Whether on the auto or manual settings, produces quality photos.
Cons: Flash recycle speed slightly slow, flash output in dimly lit rooms is weak.
I am an amateur plus photographer, in that I have earned a photography certificate and love taking pictures. I am not a novice, yet I wouldn't call myself an expert in photo taking - especially digital photo shooting. Having said that, I had come to ...

My First Canon

by stellstarr, Jun 26 '08
Pros: 8 megapixel clear sharp pictures
Cons: slow flash reaction time, card and batteries in same door.
This camera is really great for the most part. 8 mega pixels make the pictures crisp and clear. A bit slow flash reaction time to take a second picture. There are many different options. I have not used it yet, but you can also change lenses. Canon ...

Great camera

by pdnj, Jan 07 '08
Pros: Light-weight, uses AA batteries (easily replaced), face-recognition capability
Cons: None, so far
This is a great consumer-grade camera. It is light weight, sturdy, and takes great pictures and video. We bought this a a replacement for a PowerShot A75 (we also an A410, too). We were taking pictures for my daughter's gymnastics team and had ...

A Terrific Digital Camera
by npsundy,Jul 15 '08
Pros: Many great features in a small digital camera you can take anywhere. Highly recommended!
Cons: Recovery time between photos (especially with flash) can get annoying.
I've had my Canon Powershot A720 IS for over 3 months now and I love it. It's very easy to use and takes sharp, clear, bright color photos, and can go almost anywhere--I often carry it in a pouch on my belt, especially on vacation and during family outings. Its 8 mega-pixels allows cropping with good, sharp results.

I got an underwater case and have enjoyed taking photos of colorful fish, reefs, other sea life and under waterfalls in Hawaii that are very bright and natural. The Image Stabilizer (IS) feature is very useful, especially in low light situations where I want to avoid flash. This camera has pretty much replaced my Canon 20D SLR, a much more sophisticated but bulkier, heavier camera that I've used for years.

I think this is the best small all-around camera I've ever owned, and I really like the photos I'm getting with it. Highly recommended!

Great camera
by brentye,Aug 10 '08
Pros: Great price for the money.
Cons: No down falls.
When I was first looking for a digital camera I did not know what exactly I want to purchase. But, then I decided to go with a camera that was not too expensive but also not too cheap. This is a great camera for the price. The pictures come out great and they are not blurry. Great price for the money. The camera works well for beginners as well as intermediate camera users. You just focus, point and shoot. Easy to use, easy to hold and the outcome is great pictures for the you and your family.
