Pros: Seemed like a good car at first Cons: Massive reliability problems starting to creep up. The Bottom Line: I'd steer away knowing what I know now.
I bought a 2005 touring edition brand new in Fall of 2006 (i.e. about 20 months ago). It's been great, but just in the last couple of months, with 30,000 miles on it, it's starting to fall apart. First, the power steering went out. Who ever heard of ...

Pros: Stylish flowing lines, roomy interior, seating versitility. clean dash layout. Cons: auto shift stick a little cheap feeling, window controls in center of dash
We purchased our 2005 PT as a daily runner for my wife. This little puppy is a great little car! Spacious interior, well laid out dash board configuration, the back lit tach/speedo cluster is really cool and easy on the eyes.
The seemingly endless seating configurations for the car is wonderful. Big or small cargo, you can get it, (with in reason). A real plus is our long legged daughter is not digging her knees into the back of the person in front of her!
Engine performance is a little tame, but with the base model engine configuration, its not bad, it has some pep to it considering the size of the engine vs. the weight of the car. Gas mileage so far is at the high end of OKAY, that should improve with "beaking in".
The exterior still has that unique appearance, w/ the exception of the chevy hhr, all around though we are very pleased with this vehicle for its versatility, roominess, and functionality.

Pros: Fun to drive, great looking.. Cons: Base model comes with tape player..
We traded in our big truck for a PT Cruiser to save on gas, and the fact that we no longer needed a large truck anymore. I must say that i am in love with it. I really only have 2 complaints. The manual transmission is sometimes difficult to shift, and the window controls are on the center consule. I perfer them on the door. The base model come with a TAPE player. Soon after we bought it we put in an after market cd player.

Pros: Sleeker, lowered body styling.
Targa bar stiffens and improves ride. Cons: Below-average fuel economy.
Wide turning radius.
This is one great car! Roomy, stylish and, with its 2.4L Turbo, it's zippy, too. Now, it's not going to break your neck off the mark but it will get up and move. I bought my electric blue pearlcoat PT convertible (Touring edition) in Waldorf, Maryland and brought her with me to Puerto Rico in June '05. There are still very few of them on the island so I get stares everywhere I go. And driving in Old San Juan when the cruise ships arrive always brings approving calls from aficionados and young girls asking for rides with the top down. Now that you know what I like about it, let me tell you what I'd change: fuel economy and turning radius. That's it. Nothing more. My mileage is about 280 (city) and 360 (highway). Not bad, but not great. And the turning radius is appalling for a car of its size. I'm no engineer but I'm sure there are ways to improve both issues. If they are rectified then this will be one truly sweet ride all the way around!

Pros: Love the leg room front and back Cons: NONE
I stand 6' and for a woman that is really tall, the whole thing about leg room is not too much to ask for. I have even tried the luxury cars and the PT actually has more room then some of the more expensive cars.
The thing I like about it the most is that it is comfy as well.
